This is so true. I have recently been on a technique searching venture and I have noted something about this experience. Because I have no formal training, I find every new technique learned to be completely inspiring and sometimes I am motivated to create something purely for the joy of exploring that technique. However, these creations are very different from those that originate from an emotional place.

I also had a laugh at this "fresh horse" because it applies to all aspects of life. For instance, there is nothing more motivating to learn a new language, than an exotic lover. I've got several friends that have picked up french very quickly after acquiring french boyfriends....meanwhile, I take every course under the sun and I remain miles behind them. Though, I suppose my husband should be happy ;)
